FOR RESEARCHERS
Give your research a wider audience.
Your paper carries the evidence, but your feature helps people understand the questions, significance and person behind it.
The Researcher brings specialist writing, visual communication, publishing and promotion into one commissioned service. You contribute the expertise and we develop the work that helps others engage with it.
THE FEATURE
A substantial feature, not a passing mention
We give your work space: typically four to six carefully written and designed pages. Enough to explain the context, follow the important ideas and be honest about uncertainty, without expecting the reader to know your discipline already.

WHAT YOU COMMISSION
What your commission brings together
An in-depth article.
A feature developed with you and grounded in the relevant research, with your perspective represented faithfully.
Professional visual presentation.
A considered layout and the visual material agreed for your project, helping readers follow the ideas without overwhelming them.
An individual publication.
Your own article page and standalone PDF, giving the work a clear destination that you and your organisation can share.
A place in The Researcher.
Inclusion in a magazine edition, introducing the feature alongside other research stories and giving readers another route to find it.
An agreed promotion campaign.
Distribution for the individual feature and the magazine, with the channels, supporting assets and any paid promotion specified in advance.
A clear account of delivery.
A report documenting the work published and promoted, together with the audience response that can be measured.
YOUR TIME

A professional service without another full-time job
You shouldn’t have to turn yourself into a writer, designer or campaign manager to get your work across — that’s our job. What we need from you is the part only you can supply: the expertise itself, and a read through the drafts to make sure we’ve got it right.
Scope, fees, review points and timetable are all set out in your proposal. Anything beyond that — such as animation, filmed interviews, or translations — we take on only when we’ve agreed it with you first.
A FIT FOR YOUR WORK AND YOUR TEAM
A fit for your work and your team
Who is it for?
Your perspective, represented properly
An additional channel, not a replacement team
How participation is funded
A proposal that makes the scope clear
START HERE
Start with the research, not a finished brief
A paper, project link or short description is enough to begin a useful conversation. We will help you work out whether the publication is a good fit.
